East Side – West Side, Treasure Island

About as far east as you can get in San Francisco, is the west side of Treasure Island, seen here in 1936 for the ground breaking for the Treasure Island international Exposition that opened in 1939. Notice the flags of Nazi Germany on the right, and Japan on the left. The wheel in the sky sure turned on this one; a little more than five years later America was at war with both of those countries! (Thumbnail image)
