An update on a previous post of the 1939 film ‘Charlie Chan on Treasure Island’ with Charlie at Clipper Cove where the Clipper Planes arrived and left from. The new eastern portion of the Bay Bridge has been completed and the old cantilever portion is being dismantled.
The Victory Parade scene from ‘Tucker: The Man and His Dream’ from 1988 passes the Fox Oakland Theater on Telegraph Avenue in Oakland. Because the location was supposed to be 1940’s Chicago, the wording left of the marquee was changed to FOX-OAKLANE.
The large concrete ‘H’ on the hill that overlooked the old Hayward High School on Foothill Blvd. is all that is left of the school. Students would paint the H the school colors of the opposing high school teams on football game night.
This year is the 100th anniversary of the Palace of Fine Arts Building, the only survivor of the Panama Pacific International Exposition of 1915. Left, is a painting of the building when the fair opened. (Thumbnail image)
