The Cable Car Museum
The heart and life’s blood of San Francisco’s cable car system is at these crossroads, Mason and Washington Streets, where the cable car barn is. The view is slightly farther down Washington Street in the old photo where the double slots formed in the 1950’s. A rare double slot patch of cable car tracks still is in use here a little ways down toward Powell Street. (Thumbnail image)
The Cable Cars (4)
A California Street cable car passes Huntington Park, and the exclusive Pacific-Union Club on Nob Hill in the late 1940’s or early 1950’s. Not much has changed here over the years except the cars! That’s the Fairmont Hotel on the right. Grace Cathedral, out of the picture, is on the corner on the left (Thumbnail image)
