The “Miracle Mile” refers to Mission Street between 16th and, what was then Army Streets, now Cesar Chavez. In the 1940’s, 50’s, and 60’s it was second only to Union Square as the place for Christmas shopping. Christmas in the City – The City of Paris Department Store

Two views of the legendary City of Paris Department Store Christmas tree, from above and below: Neiman Marcus, which took over the location when the old department store was demolished has an impressive Christmas tree in the same spot where the old rotunda was.
